Belgian Brown Dubbel– 6.9%

This is our take on the beloved Belgian Dubbel. Aimed at being a malty deep and complex but accessible number to ease you through the cooler end of spring and warm you up for the early summer months. We’ve taken influences from Westmalle, Duvel and the Tynt Meadow (the UK’s own trappist classic). So not strictly a straight dubbel, but that’s the kind of spin we like to put on things!
The end result can be savoured at cellar temperature (8-12C), kept for a few months to develop in the bottle or enjoyed fresh on draft.
And why “Bande”…? (Brun is obvs)
Well this plays on the Belgian Comic book scene known as Bande Desinée. Think of The Adventures of Tin Tin, Asterix or even The Smurfs!

An Underrated Ambient Techno/Dub Classic

Higher Intelligence Agency – Freefloater (1995)
Belgium itself was the originator of the mighty R&S label who brought so many elctronic classics to the world in the early 90s. This one is straight outta Birmingham though. HIA were the hosts and main people behind the Oscillate night around that time. They hosted would could best be described as Ambient Techno nights – paying themselves many times, but also bringing artists like Autechre, Biosphere and even Orbital to the masses. This album bubbles, bleeps and squelches in a comforting and deceptively complex way. You could sit and listen or feel the movement take hold. what R&S started HIA took up and evolved in a very warm English Brummy way.
